The Bitaxe Gamma 601 is the best-known open-source Bitcoin miner: a single-chip board built around Bitmain's BM1370 (the chip generation used in the Antminer S21 Pro), producing 1.2 TH/s from just 17 W. It is small enough to sit on a desk, near-silent at about 35 dB, and runs the open-source AxeOS firmware with a web dashboard for tuning and monitoring. It is the most-bought home miner on eBay in Europe and the US.

Mining Profitability
In a pool, 1.2 TH/s earns about $0.049 a day at today's hashprice, less than its 0.41 kWh of electricity costs at household rates. Nobody buys a Bitaxe for income. People buy it to learn how mining works, to run their own node-connected miner, and for the solo-mining lottery: roughly a 1 in 14,999 chance per year of finding a block worth 3.125 BTC plus fees.
