Bitcoin mining hosting in Norway

Norway offers near-100% renewable hydro power and a cold climate ideal for air-cooled ASICs. Bull Miners' Norwegian capacity is currently at capacity (join the waitlist via contact). The big caveat: in March 2026 Parliament instructed the government to bring a bill banning crypto-mining data centres, and its scope is not yet defined.

Who Norway suits

Ideal for owners who value renewable power and stable cooling, on shorter terms while the legal situation settles.

Cooling

Free-air cooling all year — air-cooled machines run at full spec with no derating.

Key risks

  • A pending legal ban on crypto-mining data centres; whether existing sites are covered is not yet defined.
  • Host capacity is being converted to AI/HPC (e.g. Bitdeer's Tydal site), shrinking ASIC space.
  • Spot-price exposure in the NO3/NO4 price zones.

FAQ

Mining hosting in Norway — questions

Is crypto mining banned in Norway?

Not yet. In March 2026 the Storting instructed the government to bring forward a bill banning data centres used for crypto mining. As of November 2026 no law has been enacted and 'crypto mining' has not been defined, so scope and timing are open.

Why mine in Norway?

Power is roughly 92% hydro and the cold climate allows free-air cooling all year, so machines run at full rated hashrate with minimal cooling overhead.

Can I still host a new miner in Norway?

Only where we have free capacity — check the live availability on this page. If Norwegian sites are full, Finland, Iceland and Canada offer similar cold-climate, renewable conditions.

What tax applies to mining electricity in Norway?

Data centres pay the standard electricity tax (7.13 øre/kWh in 2026) after losing the reduced rate in 2023, because mining loads couldn't be separated from other use.
